Climate “Scientists” Caught Making Falling Sea Levels Seem to Rise

Thanks to some defiant whistleblowing by Australian scientists Albert Parker and Clifford Ollier, climate alarmist scientists have been caught red-handed doctoring scientific data in order to show the world that ocean levels were rising.

As the scientists note in their paper, “Is the Sea Level Stable at Aden, Yemen?”, raw data from three Indian Ocean gauges — Aden, Karachi, and Mumbai — show sea levels have been slowly rising, remaining neutral, or even falling over the past 140 years.

But the evidence has been adjusted by “tidal records gatekeepers” at the Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level, an international group based in Liverpool, England, to make it look like ocean levels are rising sharply, according to Breitbart.

“The authors expose how PSMSL data-adjusters make it appear that stable sea levels can be rendered to look like they are nonetheless rising at an accelerated pace,” NoTricksZone’s Kenneth Richard reported.

“The data-adjusters take misaligned and incomplete sea level data from tide gauges that show no sea level rise (or even a falling trend). Then, they subjectively and arbitrarily cobble them together, or realign them,” Richard continued.

“In each case assessed, PSMSL data-adjusters lower the earlier misaligned rates and raise the more recent measurements. By doing so, they concoct a new linearly-rising trend.”

Parker and Ollier denounced the adjustments as “highly questionable” and “suspicious.”

As Breitbart notes, there is nothing wrong with adjusting raw data to make it align with other bits of data, but that’s not the troubling part.

The issue is that, according to Breitbart, every adjustment has been made to make the data indicate a sharp upward trend in sea levels despite the records saying otherwise.

As Parker and Ollier note in their paper:

“The reconstructed tide gauge records of Aden, Mumbai and Karachi are perfectly consistent with multiple lines of evidence from other key sites of the Indian Ocean including Qatar, Maldives, Bangladesh and Visakhapatnam.

“The sea levels have been stable since the start of the twentieth century in Aden similar to Karachi and Mumbai.”

As the two scientists definitively noted, “It is always highly questionable to shift data collected in the far past without any proven new supporting material.”

Climate change alarmists are so excited about being alarmed, they aren’t about to let little things like facts get in the way.

As we’ve reported earlier, this isn’t the first time climate scientists have turned up empty-handed in their search for evidence to back up their claims.

It will likely not be long until the climate change movement as we know it will have to make even more radical changes to its agenda as the evidence against its platform mounts.
